We know it’s a little chilly in Watertown right now, but we have to think that if we were running for office, we could get a few friends and allies to come out and show some support… of their own volition.
Not so for the GOP candidate in the 48th Senate District.
Today, the Syracuse Post-Standard reported that one of this candidate’s strongest supporters, the state prison guards union, is offering to pay its members $150 (and a jacket!) to attend an endorsement rally. The head of the union said the incentive would “throw a little bone” to members.
We know Republicans in New York are a shrinking breed—but their numbers must be smaller than we thought, if budgets allow dropping $150 a head for their supporters.
Who cares about this story, this is no comparison to the huge perks and financial rewards NY State Employee Unions get by endorsing Democratic candidates. This includes helping them get legislation passed, increased salaries, AA golden benefits package the private sector cannot afford, and huge tax free pensions... most of all, the stupid public has to pay for all of this. You'd think you can actually cite something significant about the GOP in NY and all you can do is drum up this petty story. What a waste this party website is.
